Brisbane Airport adopts ICAO's Balanced Approach to Aircraft Noise Management
BAC supports the Airservices Australia initiative of the Noise Action Plan for Brisbane
The Australian Noise Exposure Forecast is used by state and local planning authorities in planning and development decisions around Brisbane Airport.
Brisbane Airport Corporation (BAC), as the operator of a key piece of the nation’s aviation infrastructure, is obliged to provide the facilities and growth capacity to meet the public’s demand for air travel, freight and transport services. This obligation conflicts with some community demands for reduced aircraft noise. Finding a balance between these competing interests is complex and subjective and requires the commitment of airlines, airports and government agencies.
While aviation's benefits are shared broadly, its burdens, like aircraft noise, are borne locally. BAC recognises that aircraft noise is a genuine problem for some in the community, and reducing it is complex and requires the commitment of airlines, airports, and government bodies.
