Overview
The Australian and NSW governments are investing $220 million in funding to replace Epping Bridge with a new, wider bridge to ease congestion, reduce travel times and improve road safety.
In 2024, the public was invited to provide feedback on the concept design and Review of Environmental Factors. A Determination Report, which summarises and responds to feedback received and an updated Transport Impact Assessment are now available to view on this portal.
The proposal has received formal approval and Transport will now proceed to engage a contractor to undertake detailed design and delivery of the project.

Review of Environmental Factors
The Review of Environmental Factors (REF) identifies and outlines all potential environmental impacts, constraints, risks and opportunities for the project.
Key impacts identified include:
temporary reduction of road network capacity due to construction staging
temporary impacts on local traffic flow due to construction traffic and speed limit reductions
temporary rail and road closures during construction
changes to bus stop locations on Beecroft Road
temporary disruption to pedestrian movements during construction
temporary reduction in secure bicycle parking available at Langston Place due to the partial removal of the Opal bike shed during construction
temporary impacts to heritage items
temporary adverse impacts to visual amenity from construction site(s)
minor impacts to the visual environment from the introduction of new elements, such as safety screens, retaining walls and the removal of 28 existing planted native and exotic trees
temporary noise and vibration impacts to adjacent residential and business areas during construction, including periods of weekend and night work.
No adverse long-term operational impacts are expected as a result of this project.
As the project is expected to take approximately five years to complete we acknowledge that some of the community impacts may affect adjacent residents and businesses, the local community, and road users for significant periods of time. Transport for NSW will look for opportunities to reduce the construction duration during detailed design.
Determination Report
The REF Determination Report has been prepared and is available to view on this portal. Based on the assessments in the REF, consideration of submissions received during the public display of the REF, and the updated Transport Impact Assessment undertaken, after the public display of the REF, Transport has decided to proceed with the project subject to the updated Environmental Mitigation Measures and Conditions of Approval.
Further refinements to the Proposal design, as outlined in the Determination Report, will be investigated during detailed design.
