Almost 200 Aboriginal people and 32 Aboriginal-owned businesses have worked on the project, providing over 50 work packages for services in waste transfer, equipment hire, traffic control, construction cranes, cleaning, graphic design and security.
A NSW Government policy encouraging the construction and professional services industry to:
provide jobs for Aboriginal people
enable business opportunities for Aboriginal-owned businesses
support growth in Aboriginal communities
Enabled safe site environments, good traffic flow and quality office hygiene through their traffic management, security, and professional cleaning services
Created a friendly, safe space for difficult conversations, offering motivational advice for mental health well being to project construction workers during free haircuts at site compounds.
Infused Aboriginal art into the design of along the project route to tell the story of Connection to Country and celebrate the significance of Aboriginal history in the area.
