Transport for NSW has shortlisted the tenderers to design and build the Singleton Bypass. A contract is expected to be announced in late 2023.
Early work on the bypass started in late 2022 and has included fencing along the corridor, demolition of existing buildings and Aboriginal Heritage Salvage from the Hunter River to the New England Highway at Gowrie Gates.
Work is continuing to relocate power and communication utilities along and across the New England Highway. Additional geotechnical investigatins and ground survey are also being carried out in preparation for major work to start on the project.
Transport for NSW will update the community and stakeholders about timing for the start of major work once the contract to design and build the bypass has been awarded and work program confirmed.
