Vehicles going west will be directed over our second Twin Arch Bridge. Two lanes will be maintained and movements towards the International Terminal and Marsh Street will continue.
Freight travelling in both directions will access Sydney Airport international freight terminal from the New Link Road connection near the Twin Arch Bridges.
To help us access areas of the project and to complete construction and finishing works on and near the bridges. At project completion, each bridge will carry four lanes of traffic in each direction.
The old Airport Drive closed from the 11 February 2024.
Movements between the Sydney Airport Terminals will be maintained by the new road connections provided by Sydney Gateway, with two lanes of traffic in each direction.
Capacity will increase to four lanes across each Twin Arch Bridge once the project connects to the St Peters Interchange.
A number of considerations were made when deciding the route of Sydney Gateway, including landownership, airport operations and local environmental impacts.
The new route between the International and Domestic Terminals is slightly longer in distance, however once the project is complete, the increase in the number of lanes, the reduction in traffic lights, and the improved connectivity with the Greater Sydney Road network, will increase efficiencies and enable reduced journey times.
Access into the International Terminal from Marsh Street, Arncliffe, will remain the same.
Access to the Domestic Terminals from O’Riordan Street and Joyce Drive will remain the same.
All other access will be via Sydney Gateway.
