Working group background
We understand the importance of the Berrys Bay area as part of the Sydney Harbour foreshore, so we are working closely with the community to design and shape the future of Berrys Bay after we have finished construction of the Western Harbour Tunnel.
The construction support site at Berrys Bay is temporary and we will not be leaving any tunnel infrastructure at this site. We are committed to returning Berrys Bay as public open space once the Western Harbour Tunnel project is completed.
Berrys Bay Community and Stakeholder Working Group (CSW Group)
The NSW Government is committed to revitalising and returning Berrys Bays to the local community once the construction of the Western Harbour Tunnel is complete. It therefore called upon community members to apply to be part of the Berrys Bay Community and Stakeholder Working Group, alongside representatives from the NSW Government and North Sydney Council (CSW Group).
The purpose of the CSW Group is to help determine the optimal vision and design of Berrys Bay once construction of the Western Harbour Tunnel is completed, and to consider perspectives and preferences across the community and the NSW Government to provide the best outcome for both the local and wider community.
The CSW Group will provide a forum for collaboration between CSW Group members to enable a fair, sustainable, productive and sensitive outcome. It will advise and assist the Berrys Bay Project Team, as necessary, to understand the current and future needs of the local community.
The Berrys Bay Project Team will use the outcomes of the CSW Group to inform the development of a Concept Plan for Berrys Bay.
