In generating mode, water is released from Tantangara Dam and travels through the power station and into the 7km‐long, 10m diameter tailrace tunnel. A tunnel boring machine (TBM) will be used to excavate the tailrace tunnel, which will be largely concrete-lined. The image shows a TBM operating progressively installing the concrete lining.
