The M1 extension to Raymond Terrace project will transform the way people move to and from the Hunter and will improve travel times for commuters travelling from Sydney to Brisbane, helping motorists to save between 7 and 9 minutes travel time during peak periods on opening.
Once complete, the extension will remove up to 25,000 vehicles a day from key congestion and merge points along this corridor and will help keep freight, commuters and tourists moving.
As part of our sustainability commitments, we submitted the Communication Management Plan (CMP) for public review and feedback. The CMP provides a plan for delivery of the communications requirements for the M1 extension project and identifies communication tools which will be implemented, timelines for delivery and work specific mitigation measures.
The Infrastructure Sustainability Council (ISC) is the peak body for infrastructure sustainability, advocating for the delivery of cultural, social, economic and environmental benefits in all infrastructure projects.
This consultation closed in November 2023 with minimal submissions made by members of the community. Of those which related to our project scope, all were positive about the project and communication to date, stating they were happy with the level of information about the project as well as the timing and availability of information. They also perceived the project as having a positive legacy in the community.
As such, no updates have been made as part of the review and refinement of the project Communication Management Plan at this stage. Additional evaluation will be undertaken every six months as part of our commitments to continually review and refine the way we communicate and consult with the community.
