The M1 extension to Raymond Terrace project will transform the way people move to and from the Hunter and will improve travel times for commuters travelling from Sydney to Brisbane, helping motorists to save between 7 and 9 minutes travel time during peak periods on opening. Once complete, the extension will remove up to 25,000 vehicles a day from key congestion and merge points along this corridor and will help keep freight, commuters and tourists moving.
About the Design and Landscape Plans
Transport for NSW has awarded the M1 extension contract in two sections. John Holland Gamuda Australia Joint Venture is delivering the southern contract between Black Hill and Tomago and Seymour Whyte Constructions is delivering the northern contract which bypasses Heatherbrae.
In preparation for major construction, the project team is finalising the Design and Landscape Plans for each contract section. The plans have been developed to achieve the project’s objectives and include urban design elements and landscaping features such as retaining walls, bridges, lighting, signs, paving types, artwork etc. As part of our design process, we are asking for feedback from the community in relation to these design and landscape plans.
The consultation period for the Design and Landscape Plan public exhibition ended at 5pm, Thursday 5th October 2023.
