Enhancing the town centre by improving the connection and accessibility between existing car parks and shops for pedestrians or providing facilities to encourage active transport, such as bike racks and improved pathways.
Currently it may be difficult to find the existing carparks in the Yagoona town centre due to a lack of signage. Improving way-finding signage could direct customers to the existing public carparks, while reconfiguring these carparks could increase their capacity.
We recognise that implementing new and extended clearways will impact those who currently park on the highway. To minimise those impacts, we could increase the capacity of existing public carparks, including changing carpark layouts and seeing where additional parking can be added; or improving amenities, such as tree planting for shade, and lighting in and around car parks for safety at night; or investigating side street options, such as reviewing existing parking restrictions, including the provision of additional timed parking spaces to assist local business.
Transport will continue to work with Canterbury Bankstown Council to develop alternative business customer parking options, but we are keen to hear your feedback and suggestions.
