The NSW Government and industry need to work together to achieve a shared vision for the Western Sydney Airport Precinct to become an economic powerhouse driving the productivity of Western Sydney and NSW.
To achieve that vision as quickly as possible, delivery of transport infrastructure and services needs to be staged so that it both meets demand as development occurs across the Airport Precinct and builds the foundations for new travel behaviours and future expansion of the transport network. This will require Transport and industry partners to engage often and share ideas about how transport needs can be delivered effectively.
Transport for NSW is committed to ongoing engagement with developers in the Airport Precinct.
We encourage proponents to talk to us early in the planning process about their sites, so that we can understand their access needs which will help us develop infrastructure designs that maximise benefits for the Airport Precinct.
Developers can contact Transport for NSW at Development.Sydney@transport.nsw.gov.au if you have any questions about the planning process in the Airport Precinct, or if you would like to arrange a meeting.
Industry engagement principles
Transport for NSW is committed to the following principles to support positive outcomes in the Airport Precinct.
Proactively engage with developer groups with an interest in the Airport Precinct.
Share information early and work iteratively to support developers in their own design processes.
Creating a single ‘front door’ to make it easier for developers to reach out and work with us.
Support the Department of Planning and Environment's Technical Assurance Panel process to work with larger development proposals where co-designing for better outcomes can bring innovation and efficiency.
Adopting three different levels of engagement with developers to address different needs:
Individual meetings to listen and learn about key issues
Targeted group workshops to resolve specific issues such as interim access solutions
Formal industry briefings to share insights, project updates and progress on resolving challenges.
Collecting and considering feedback from developers in our decision making.
Advocating together for the right outcomes.
