Maintenance is necessary to keep our network running smoothly. While some kinds of maintenance work can happen year-round, our schedule operates largely on a seasonal roster.
Our maintenance season usually begins in September/October, and finishes around Easter time the following year. We take full advantage of the warmer, drier months to complete resurfacing work that improves our roads.
We use the off-season months to complete routine maintenance, and to plan and schedule for the next season, with people’s safety at the forefront of our maintenance schedule.
Our maintenance schedule
While we work to a planned maintenance schedule, our schedule is flexible and can change.
Sometimes, our works are rescheduled due to:
- adverse weather conditions
- coordinating with conflicting works or projects in the same area
- prioritisation of works – for example, emergency works take priority over scheduled works
- availability of budget and resources
When this happens, our maintenance team will reschedule and reprioritise any works missed to make sure they’re completed within the season.
