With lower than normal traffic volumes on the freeway during the holiday period between 10pm Thursday 26 December and 5am Sunday 26 January we will implement multiple temporary lane and ramp closures along the freeway. This means a lower impact to the local road networks around the freeway than would be the case during normal traffic periods.

The map and table show our work locations between Thursday 26 December 2024 and Sunday 26 January 2025.
We will be implementing multiple temporary lane and ramp closures along the freeway. Please refer to the traffic changes - road and ramp closures table below to see the traffic changes that will be in place between 10pm Thursday 26 December 2024 and 5am Sunday 26 January 2025 (some lane closures will extend until 27 January 2025.
Expect queuing and delays at times similar to normal morning peak periods.
Additional lane reductions will be in place on the Warringah Freeway northbound and southbound lanes. Please expect delays and allow extra travel time when travelling on the Warringah Freeway during the holiday period. Your safety is our number one priority, we ask you to please slow down and look out for road workers.

Carrying out the construction work program over the holiday period will reduce the project duration and overall number of noisy night shifts, resulting in less disruption overall disruption. These works will reduce the number of standard night shifts and weekend closures in 2025.

Day and night shifts of work will take place consecutively from 8pm Tuesday 26 December 2023 to 4.30am Sunday 14 January 2024 to take advantage of lower traffic volumes. Most of our night work will take place on the freeway lanes, away from residential properties. Although the work will be noisy at times, it’s not expected to reach the highly intrusive levels that have previously been experienced by the community during some night work events, such as the demolition of the Falcon Street southbound on ramp.
From Monday 15 January to 1am Friday 26 January 2024 we will continue working on the same construction activities but will return to standard work hours of up to three nights per week, with only two consecutive nights per week and no more than 10 nights per month when predicted noise levels exceed the noise management levels. Night work will typically take place between 8pm and 5am, with high-noise activities completed before midnight, where possible.
No construction work is scheduled to take place on Wednesday 25 December 2024.
No night work is scheduled on New Year’s Eve, Tuesday 31 December 2024.
The majority of lane closures will be removed on this night, with most traffic lanes reinstated for New Year’s Eve by 6am on Tuesday 31 December 2024.
Road users are expected to experience up to 15 minutes additional travel time.
Motorists are advised to please keep to speed limits, follow the direction of signage and allow extra time when travelling on the Warringah Freeway during the holiday period.
