We are working on the Warringah Freeway from 9pm Friday 26 December 2025 to 5am Monday 26 January 2026.
With fewer vehicles using the Warringah Freeway during the holiday period, we can take advantage of the lower than normal traffic volumes and close lanes for longer. The temporary traffic changes allow us to create safe work areas next to, over and on the freeway. This gives us consecutive day and night access to the freeway so we can carry out critical work activities like removing and installing asphalt and concrete across the freeway lanes, which cannot take place during normal traffic periods. This increases our project’s efficiency, reducing the overall impact to the community compared to delivering this work during single night shifts or extended weekend shifts.
During this period, we will be working at different areas along the Warringah Freeway between Milsons Point and Naremburn at key interchanges.
Changed traffic conditions
We will be implementing multiple temporary lane and ramp closures along the freeway. Expect queuing and delays on the freeway at times similar to normal morning peak periods. Additional lane reductions will be in place on the Warringah Freeway northbound and southbound lanes.
There will be multiple overnight full closures of the Warringah Freeway both northbound and southbound between Friday 26 December 2025 and Sunday 25 January 2026. During these full closures, there will also be several ramp closures.
Please expect delays and allow extra travel time when travelling on the Warringah Freeway during the holiday period. Your safety is our number one priority, we ask you to please slow down and look out for road workers.

Expected impacts from the day and night work
Day and night shifts of work will take place consecutively from 9pm 26 December 2025 to 5am 26 January 2026 (excluding NYE, 31 December) to take advantage of lower traffic volumes. The work we need to complete over this time includes road pavement and asphalting work, right along the freeway. High-noise impacts similar to what you may have already experienced from our work and potential vibrations are expected during the work. The exact impacts will depend on how close your property is to the work area.
High noise work may come from activities such as excavating the road pavement, trenching for gantry, drainage, service installation and asphalting work.
Please see Table 1 on page 3 of the community notification here for more information about the type of work we are doing in each area and the expected noise impacts in each area.
Miller Street and Falcon Street intersection - night work will take place on:
Week 1: Saturday 27 December, Sunday 28 December, 9pm to 6am
Week 2: Tuesday 6, Thursday 8 and Friday 9 January, 9pm to 6am
Week 3: Tuesday 13, Thursday 15 and Friday 16 January, 9pm to 6am
Week 4: Tuesday 20, Thursday 22 and Friday 23 January, 9pm to 6am.
Most of our noisy night work on and next to the freeway will take place from Monday to Friday nights, with lower noise work taking place on Saturday and Sunday nights.
