How planning approval occurred

Our construction activities will have a temporary impact on open space and the recreational facilities at Rockdale Bicentennial Park. We understand how important this area is for the community so we have upgraded facilities at Ador Park and McCarthy Reserve, Rockdale and Brighton Memorial Playing Fields, before construction starts.

On behalf of Bayside Council, we developed a concept design and Review of Environmental Factors (REF) for the proposed recreational facilities at Rockdale and Brighton- Le-Sands. We invited feedback on the REF in December 2019.

We received 117 submissions from the local community, organisations and sporting groups. Responses to your feedback are outlined in the submissions report. Bayside Council considered feedback and provided approval for us to build your new recreational facilities in April 2020.

We developed an Addendum to our REF to assess changes to our design and construction. Bayside Council approved the Addendum REF in August 2020.

Our team would like to thank everyone who provided feedback and engaged with us as we developed the design for the new facilities.

Our contractor, Ertech, commenced construction in August 2020 and completed the new facilities in December 2021.

We thank the community for its patience as we built the new recreational facilities. We hope they bring many years of fun and enjoyment!
