In 2024, work continues to complete the installation of the seven-kilometre underground permanent power supply for the M6 Stage 1, linking the Canterbury substation at Earlwood to the Motorway Operations Centre at West Botany Street, Rockdale.
Work has progressed steadily since its commencement in May 2023. To-date, over 90% of trenching works have been completed, with 9 of 11 joint bays constructed, and 33% of the cable pulling carried out successfully. These cable pulling works are pivotal step in ensuring a reliable and continuous power supply for the M6 Stage 1 tunnels.
Permanent road reinstatement of affected roads is also underway and set to begin from March 2024, we expect works to be complete in mid-May 2024
We have a dedicated Permanent Power Supply page where you can find out more information about the program of works and explore the interactive map.

The bridge will allow pedestrians and cyclists to cross President Avenue safely and easily once completed. Once the pathways are constructed, we will provide renewed natural landscapes, green spaces, and recreational facilities for the community to enjoy.
