Night work takes place up to 10 nights per month in various locations along the freeway. Generally, night work takes place in locations where limited construction work can take place during the day when all freeway traffic lanes are open and being used by vehicle traffic. 

Weekend work takes place from Friday night to Monday morning, and on long weekends from Thursday or Friday night to Monday or Tuesday morning. Over the weekends, we make productive use of lower traffic volumes in Sydney to set up road closures and complete as much work as we can over the weekend, expediting the overall project work schedule.

This work is not expected to have a high noise impact to the community.

The inner reversible lane of the Warringah Freeway can currently be used in either direction depending on the time of day and traffic conditions. The lane currently traverses southbound for weekday peak traffic periods between approximately 5:30am to 9:30am. At all other times the lane traverses northbound.

From 5am Monday 2 June 2025, the southbound decision point for access to the reversible lanes will change permanently. Citybound motorists in the Monday to Friday AM peak traffic periods will access the reversible inner lanes approximately 500 metres south of the current decision point. The decision point on the freeway for access to the southbound reversible lanes will change from south of Miller Street bridge to south of Ernest Street bridge. 

Additionally, the Falcon Street northbound on ramp will now merge directly onto the reversible lane of the freeway before merging into the northbound outer lanes. Currently this ramp merges directly onto the northbound outer lanes.  

 Road signage will be updated to reflect these changes and provide you with advanced notice.

Preparation work will occur on:

• 10pm Friday 16 May to 5am Monday 19 May 2025

• 10pm Friday 23 May to 5am Sunday 25 May 2025

The implementation of the permanent traffic change will occur on:

• 10pm Friday 30 May to 5am Monday 2 June 2025

• Setting up traffic controls

• Line marking

• Relocating barriers

• Milling and asphalting

• Concreting

• Installing signage and formwork

• Realigning traffic lanes and medians

Over two weekends in May 2025, we will be carrying out day and night-work work along the Warringah Freeway in Cammeray. These include:

• 6pm Friday 16 May to 6am Monday 19 May 2025

• 6pm Friday 23 May to 6am Monday 26 May 2025

We will be completing paving work in preparation for the opening of the new Miller Street southbound on ramp. This work is weather dependent and is subject to change. The work includes:

• setting up traffic controls

• delivering materials

• wall using a crane

• concreting, asphalting and compacting road surfaces

• line marking and line marking removal

• installing signage and safety barriers

Temporary pedestrian changes

For the safety of pedestrians and workers, weekend work on the Miller Street southbound on ramp will require the temporary closure of the eastern footpath on Miller Street between Amherst Street and Rosalind Street. A detour for pedestrians and cyclists will be in place from:

• 10am Friday 16 May to 6am Monday 19 May

• 10am Friday 23 May to 6am Monday 26 May 2025

Changed traffic conditions

The Miller Street southbound on ramp will be closed for weekend work activities from:

• 10am Friday 16 May to 6am Monday 19 May 2025

• 10am Friday 23 May to 6am Monday 26 May 2025

In June 2025, we will be continuing consecutive weekend day and night work along the freeway and intersections in North Sydney and Neutral Bay, to speed up the work programme and reduce our overall impact to the surrounding community.

We will be carrying out weekend work in the southern precinct on the following dates:

• 10pm Friday 13 June to 6pm Sunday 15 June 2025

• 10pm Friday 20 June to 5am Monday 23 June 2025
