Keeping you moving

We have started work to upgrade, connect and streamline traffic movements on the M1 Pacific Motorway and Pacific Highway.

Moving through our site

We are committed to reducing our impact wherever possible to keep pedestrians, cyclists and roads users moving. The safety of our workers and the community is our number one priority.

Traffic control and signage will be in place while we carry out the work.

Please keep to speed limits and follow the direction of signage and traffic controllers.

Traffic and travel impacts

Traffic changes

To build the M1 Pacific Motorway extension to Raymond Terrace we need to carry out a lot of surface work across both urban and greenfield land sites.

With 15 kilometres of new motorway, four interchanges and 12 bridges, this project is very complex, but will improve customer journeys.

Conditions on the M1 Pacific Motorway and Pacific Highway will start to change for the work to be safely carried out.

This includes:

  • reducing speed limits
  • changing traffic lanes and Motorway/ Highway access arrangements
  • closing lanes, temporary road closures and implementing detours
  • establishing new construction site accesses from various locations

We are not expecting substantial changes to your travel times while we are working.

Managing construction traffic

We know our work can be disruptive and delays can be frustrating. We are committed to reducing our impact wherever possible to keep motorists and buses moving, especially during peak travelling times. To manage our impact on you, we will be:

  • working outside peak periods when possible, to minimise the impact for road users and in particular commuters
  • using signage and lane marking to direct and guide you safely past our sites
  • using signage and lane marking to direct and guide you safely past our sites monitoring and managing traffic operations 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year at the Transport Management Centre helping to keep you moving.

Public transport

We will need to make some short-term changes to bus stop locations and routes. This may include temporarily moving bus stops by a few hundred metres while work is being carried out or temporarily changing routes to avoid construction work. This may cause some minor increases in bus travel times at certain phases of our work.

We are committed to reducing our impact wherever possible to keep motorists and buses moving, especially during peak travelling times.

You will be notified well in advance of any disruptions or changes.
